ESDM launches B50, targets Rp170 trillion in savings
Officials project 2.1 million new jobs and a cut of 44.46 million tons of CO2 emissions in 2026.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has begun implementing the B50 biodiesel program, with a target of saving about Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange throughout 2026. ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia said the new blend would make half of national diesel consumption come from domestic commodities, especially palm oil, to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen energy security. The government also projects the program will create up to 2.1 million new jobs and cut greenhouse gas emissions by 44.46 million tons of CO2 in 2026. ESDM said technical oversight and operational evaluations will continue, while it coordinates with vehicle manufacturers and industry players during implementation.
