Erick Thohir raises youth jobs and mental health at UN

Kemenpora seeks UN input and international networks to build youth programs that better target character building and skills.

Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir met with PBB Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs Felipe Paullier at United Nations headquarters in New York, the United States, to discuss challenges facing young people. At the meeting, Erick highlighted two issues he said affect young people in many countries most: job availability and mental health. He said rapid changes in the world are also affecting the future of work, social life and the pressure felt by young people. Kemenpora, he said, wants youth programs to go beyond ceremonial events and instead build character and improve the capacity of Indonesian youth. The meeting was also used to broaden perspectives and strengthen international networks in youth development.
