England extended Sarina Wiegman’s contract through Euro 2029
What’s next: Wiegman now turns to England’s two-leg World Cup playoff against Ukraine for a place at Brazil 2027.
England have kept Sarina Wiegman as women’s head coach through Euro 2029 after agreeing a two-year contract extension. Her previous deal had been due to end after the 2027 World Cup.
The Dutch coach has led the Lionesses since September 2021 and guided them to European titles in 2022 and 2025, plus the 2023 World Cup final. With the Netherlands, she also won Euro 2017 and reached the 2019 World Cup final, extending a run of five straight major tournament finals.
England’s immediate focus is qualifying for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. The Lionesses beat Greece 8-1 on aggregate in the first playoff round and will face Ukraine next in a two-leg tie.
