Former Ponorogo DPRD speaker named in Rp3.6 billion graft probe
Investigators suspect he ordered a 15 percent increase in the appraisal value used to set housing allowances for 2023-2026.
The Ponorogo District Attorney's Office has named former Ponorogo DPRD Speaker for 2019-2024 Sunarto, also known as SN, a suspect in an alleged graft case involving housing allowances for DPRD members that is believed to have cost the state about Rp3.6 billion. The case concerns allowance payments for the 2023-2026 fiscal years. Ponorogo Chief Prosecutor Zulmar Adhy Surya said the suspect designation was based on evidence, including questioning of FS, the head of finance at the DPRD Secretariat, who was previously named a suspect. From FS's statement, investigators suspect SN ordered a change to the valuation by the Kantor Jasa Penilai Publik, raising the appraisal value by 15 percent. That figure was then used as the basis for the allowance amount. The prosecutors are also tracing possible fee flows, the chance of additional suspects, and potential state losses that may increase.
