Eko Yuli Irawan could make sixth Asian Games appearance in 2026
The 37-year-old lifter is projected for the men's 65kg class and is chasing his fourth Asian Games medal.
Eko Yuli Irawan could again bolster Indonesia's weightlifting team at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan, which would be his sixth appearance at the event. Based on the list of athletes being prepared, the 37-year-old lifter is projected to compete in the men's 65 kilogram class. If he competes, Eko's Asian Games run will stretch from Doha 2006 to Aichi-Nagoya 2026. So far, he has taken bronze in Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014, then gold in Jakarta-Palembang 2018. His run of always bringing home a medal ended at Hangzhou 2022, held in 2023, when he failed to post a total after making only a 145 kilogram snatch and missing all three clean and jerk attempts. Indonesia has also lined up Ricko Saputra, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, and Rizki Juniansyah in the men's division.
