Economic Census 2026 Reaches Malinau Interior and Kahayan

BPS Palangka Raya deployed 220 workers, while teams in Malinau crossed swift rivers and areas without signals.

Badan Pusat Statistik is expanding the 2026 Economic Census into hard-to-reach areas in Kalimantan. In Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan, BPS workers crossed the strong current of the Jiram River, forest areas and places without communication networks so the economic potential of border communities is still recorded. In Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, the local BPS deployed 220 workers to survey businesses and households, including settlements along the Kahayan River in Pahandut Seberang, on Saturday, 25 July 2026. The count is conducted door to door to collect the latest picture of economic activity in the community. Census data will be used as a basis for development policy and mapping trends in economic activity.
