East Jakarta transport office tows 5 motorcycles from Jatinegara sidewalk, 1 is ojol
The ojol rider whose bike was hauled away must collect it at the East Jakarta office after signing a statement.
The East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Agency impounded five motorcycles parked on the sidewalk on Jalan Jatinegara Timur, in front of J-Town, in an enforcement operation on Wednesday (17/6). One of the motorcycles loaded onto the net truck belonged to an online motorcycle taxi rider, whose video later went viral as he pleaded for officers not to take the vehicle. East Jakarta Sub-Agency head Harlem Simanjuntak said the operation was carried out by a joint team with Satpol PP, the Social Sub-Agency and police under Regional Regulation No. 5 of 2014 on Transportation. He said owners who arrived after their motorcycles had already been loaded onto the truck were told to retrieve them at the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Agency office. After signing a statement promising not to repeat the violation, the rider was allowed to continue his work.
