Eagles QB Jalen Hurts to miss season after clots reach lungs

What’s new: Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, and blood thinners bar him from football activities.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season after doctors found blood clots in his lungs and leg, a major blow to a team that has dropped four straight games. The Eagles and Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, said Monday that Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning a clot moved from his leg to his lungs. He was placed on injured reserve Saturday and cannot take part in football activities while on blood thinners. The team said Hurts is clinically stable and expected to make a full recovery. Hurts was hurt when he took a cleat to the calf Oct. 4 against the Los Angeles Rams. Backup Tanner McKee started Sunday’s 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
