Dry season forces Gunung Putri residents to walk 1 km for water
The shortage has lasted about a month, and the village spring's flow continues to decline.
Residents of Gunung Putri Village, Suboh District, Situbondo, East Java, have begun to struggle to get clean water during the dry season. On Saturday (20/6/2026), they fetched drinking water from a spring about one kilometer from the settlement. The spring's flow was also reported to be declining. Over the past month, residents have had to make repeated trips carrying buckets from the spring to the village to meet daily needs. ANTARA photos showed residents hauling water amid the drop in supply during the dry season now affecting the area.
