Houthi drone strikes Aramco's Jazan refinery, Saudi extinguishes fire
No injuries were reported, but the 400,000-barrel-a-day facility had already been disrupted by a July attack.
The Houthi group in Yemen claimed it attacked the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, with a drone on Sunday, Aug. 9. Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry confirmed a fire broke out at one of the refinery facilities and said it had been extinguished with no injuries, but did not explain the cause. Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, said the strike hit its target and was carried out in response to Saudi drone flights over Saada and Hajjah. The Jazan refinery is near the Yemen border and processes about 400,000 barrels of crude a day. The facility was also affected by a late-July attack that damaged the gasification complex and tank area, while the Houthi have also launched attacks on Mocha in Yemen in recent days.
