Drone attack on Colombia military base kills 3 soldiers
At least 8 to 16 people were wounded, and authorities have not yet identified the armed group responsible.
A drone attack hit a military base in Santa Rosa del Sur, Colombia, and killed three soldiers. Reports from two sources said at least eight people were injured, while another report put the number wounded at 16. The Colombian Army said the drone had been modified to carry explosives, then activated emergency protocols and deployed troops to assess the damage. Authorities have not announced who carried out the attack. Santa Rosa del Sur, at the foot of the San Lucas mountains, is known as an area contested by armed groups such as ELN, Gulf Clan and a FARC splinter faction. The attack adds to a series of assaults on security forces in rural Colombia in recent weeks.
