Bandung DPRD speeds conversion of BPR Syariah to Perseroda
The new structure could open the door to additional capital while Pemkot Bandung keeps at least a 51% stake.
The Bandung City DPRD and Pemkot Bandung are speeding up deliberations on a draft bylaw that would change the legal status of BPR Syariah Kota Bandung into a regional limited liability company, or Perseroda. The move is intended to align with regulations from the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 2024, and Permendagri Nomor 21 Tahun 2024 on the transformation of regional government-owned banks. The DPRD said the status change must be accompanied by internal reform, not just a shift in legal form. Key concerns include the high level of nonperforming loans, stronger governance and management, operational performance, and leadership posts that are still held by acting officials. Under Perseroda status, BPR Syariah Kota Bandung could expand access to capital through equity participation from other parties, while Pemkot Bandung would still be able to remain the majority shareholder.
