Bandung DPRD pushes corporate charges after 10 trees felled
Commission I calls the Jalan Riau felling organized and urges a civil suit as well as criminal sanctions.
Chairman of Commission I of the Bandung City DPRD, Radea Respati Paramudhita, is urging tougher legal action over the felling of 10 large trees in front of a padel court on Jalan LLRE Martadinata, Bandung. The incident, which occurred on 29 June 2026, is seen as not a spontaneous act but an organized operation, and is suspected to be linked to construction of the padel facility at the site.
Radea said cutting down that many trees would be impossible for one person without a structure, equipment and supporting vehicles. He asked the Bandung city government not to stop at a strong warning from Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, but to pursue corporate criminal liability so responsibility can reach the business owner, managers and commissioners if they are proven involved. Beyond the criminal route, the DPRD is also pushing for a civil lawsuit for damages and environmental restoration.
