DPR Urges Participation in 2026 Economic Census for UMKM Data
BPS said the census runs through Aug. 31, 2026, and the data are protected under the Statistics Law and the Personal Data Protection Law.
Commission X member of the DPR RI, Adela Kanasya Adies, urged the public and business operators to take part in the 2026 Economic Census because the results will be used as a basis for data-driven policy, especially for UMKM empowerment. The census conducted by Badan Pusat Statistik is aimed at mapping the business landscape comprehensively, from micro enterprises to large companies, including the growth of the digital economy. According to Adela, the census data will be used to set development priorities, budget allocations, fiscal policy, and evaluation of government programs. She highlighted the importance of accurate UMKM data, which according to the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs totals about 65 million units. The 2026 Economic Census is scheduled to run through Aug. 31, 2026.
