DPR urges NTB to fix clean water and waste in Gili Tramena
Fast boat safety and a 65-hectare land dispute in Gili Trawangan also emerged as issues that officials must address.
DPR Commission VII urged the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government to resolve basic problems in the Gili Tramena tourism area — Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air — so tourism in North Lombok can grow sustainably. At a coordination meeting in Mataram on Tuesday, Commission VII member Rahmawati pointed to the clean water crisis and waste management, including plastic trash visible along the coast of Gili Meno. Commission VII deputy chair Evita Nursanty also stressed the need for an integrated roadmap, tourism education starting in school, and better safety on fast boat transport because life jackets remain in short supply. At the same time, NTB Deputy Prosecutor Chief Dandeni Herdiana said the prosecutor's office is ready to provide legal assistance for development projects, including issues tied to the NTB provincial government's 65-hectare land asset in Gili Trawangan.
