DPR targets Asset Confiscation Bill by December 2026
Komisi III says only about eight weeks of effective debate remain after recess is deducted, speeding the process.
DPR is targeting passage of the Asset Confiscation Bill no later than December 2026, with Komisi III accelerating the full sequence of deliberations from public input to a plenary vote. Habiburokhman, chairman of Komisi III DPR, said the remaining effective session time, after recess is deducted, is about eight weeks. So far, Komisi III has held 35 public hearings, made three working visits to regions, and received written input from dozens of community groups. DPR deputy speaker Sari Yuliati said the draft is being prepared carefully so it does not create opportunities for abuse of power by law enforcement or become a tool for criminalization. The bill is in Prolegnas and is still under discussion in DPR, while the government is waiting for a parliamentary initiative before joint deliberations begin.
