Komisi XI DPR on Wednesday held a fit-and-proper test for Destry Damayanti as the sole nominee for Bank Indonesia governor at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. In her presentation, the BI senior deputy governor outlined a central bank approach that would preserve rupiah stability while giving broader room for economic growth. Destry said the BI rate would be guided in a preemptive and forward-looking way to support exchange-rate stability, with smart intervention and more market-oriented monetary operations so policy transmission remains effective. She also stressed macroprudential instruments to encourage financing for priority sectors, including UMKM.
