DPR flags Rp67 trillion in 2025 education funds unspent
New: DPR says unused education budgets from 2021-2025 reached hundreds of trillions, peaking at Rp141 trillion in 2022.
Komisi XI DPR highlighted education budget execution that has never been fully absorbed over the past five years. In a working meeting at DPR, Jakarta, on Monday, Deputy Chairman of Komisi XI Dolfie Othniel Frederic Palit said unspent education funds reached Rp70 trillion in 2021, Rp141 trillion in 2022, Rp110 trillion in 2023, Rp99 trillion in 2024, and Rp67 trillion in 2025. He said this means the mandatory 20 percent of the APBN for education has not been truly met in state spending. Dolfie also criticized placing part of the education budget under financing items, including those tied to government securities, instead of direct spending. Acting Director General of Budget at Kementerian Keuangan Sudarto did not dispute the finding and said the DPR's notes would be taken into account in preparing the next Nota Keuangan.
