Dozens of masked Israeli settlers attacked homes near the Palestinian village of Qusra in the occupied West Bank on Aug. 29, surrounding one house and throwing stones while seven Palestinians were inside, according to residents and Reuters witnesses. The Israeli military said troops and border police were sent to the scene after reports of violent clashes and removed settlers who had barricaded themselves inside a Palestinian home. Residents said several Palestinians were hurt by stones and tear gas during the incident. The attack was the first major assault since an earlier settler siege in the area this month drew international condemnation and a large Israeli military deployment.
