Dolly Parton, the singer-songwriter whose voice, wit and business acumen made her one of country music’s biggest stars, has died at 80. Her family disclosed her death on social media, and Antara reported that she died Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, after a brief fight with cancer at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center while surrounded by family and close friends. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Parton won 10 Grammy Awards, sold more than 100 million records worldwide and wrote more than 3,000 songs. Her best-known hits included “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You.” Beyond music, she acted in films and built Dollywood into a major Tennessee attraction.
