DOJ national security chief, Miami US attorney step down
What's new: The exits of John Eisenberg and Jason Reding Quiñones came a day after Harmeet Dhillon left the Civil Rights Division.
The Justice Department lost two more senior officials Friday as John Eisenberg, who led its National Security Division, and Jason Reding Quiñones, the U.S. attorney for Florida’s Southern District, stepped down. Their departures deepen a broader leadership shake-up at the department under Attorney General Todd Blanche. Blanche praised Eisenberg’s work on terrorism cases and efforts to disrupt planned attacks, and credited Quiñones with work against violent crime, drug trafficking, sex trafficking and transnational crime. Quiñones’ office had also drawn notice for indicting former Cuban President Raúl Castro. The resignations followed Harmeet Dhillon’s exit a day earlier from the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.
