DKI Jakarta cleans Monas shaft, tourism remains open
The rope-access maintenance is expected to last about six months and includes cultural heritage conservation experts.
Pemprov DKI Jakarta cleaned the shaft of Monumen Nasional (Monas) in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026) as part of routine maintenance of the capital's landmark. The work is being carried out by professional crews using rope access to clean the monument's surface gradually from above. The process follows workplace safety standards and conservation rules because Monas is a cultural heritage building. The effort is coordinated by Unit Pengelola Kawasan Monas together with Dinas Kebudayaan DKI Jakarta and involves experts from Pusat Konservasi Cagar Budaya. The maintenance is expected to take about six months. During the work, the Monas tourist area, history museum and upper viewing platform will remain open, with visitors asked to follow staff instructions.
