UGM discussion turns chaotic, Sudaryono says he was hit
At GIK UGM, the forum ran 30-40 minutes before water was thrown and security asked the group to leave.
A discussion involving Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency head Nusron Wahid and Budiman Sudjatmiko at Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas Universitas Gadjah Mada in Sleman turned chaotic on Monday night (15/6). Sudaryono said the forum, which was meant to open to questions from students, lasted about 30-40 minutes before it was stopped after some participants refused to let the discussion continue. He said he was hit by thrown water and felt struck as tensions rose, prompting security officers to advise the group to leave. Sudaryono denied claims that he fled the scene. He said that after their car was blocked, he and Nusron got out again and sat on the asphalt to continue the dialogue. In the spontaneous forum, students voiced criticism over land issues and alleged evictions.
