Darline Graham won the Republican nomination for South Carolina’s U.S. Senate seat in Tuesday’s special primary runoff, the AP projected, defeating Rep. Ralph Norman after no candidate secured a majority earlier this month. Graham, a political newcomer, had President Donald Trump’s endorsement in one of his highest-profile bets of the midterm primary season. She now moves on to face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews, a pediatrician, in November. Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., spent more than $827,000 backing Graham, underscoring the race as a test of his sway with GOP primary voters after mixed results in other contests this year.
