Darline Graham enters Aug. 11 GOP primary for South Carolina Senate seat

Darline Graham will run for a full term in the South Carolina Senate seat she was appointed last week to hold through January after the death of her brother, Lindsey Graham. Her entry adds another contender to a compressed Republican special primary set for Aug. 11, with filing opening Tuesday. President Donald Trump endorsed her on Friday. Rep. Russell Fry said Monday he will also enter the race, while Rep. Ralph Norman has already joined and Rep. Nancy Mace and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette have been considering bids. Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham to finish the term after Lindsey Graham died earlier this month from an aortic tear, according to a preliminary medical examiner report.
