Crimea halts public fuel sales after Ukraine hits Kerch oil depot
What's new: Russian-backed officials restricted fuel to state agencies only after the strike killed four people and injured 28.
Russian-backed authorities in occupied Crimea stopped fuel sales to the public after a Ukrainian drone strike hit an oil depot in Kerch, deepening shortages on the peninsula. Crimea had already rationed fuel after repeated Ukrainian attacks on supply routes in Russian-occupied territory. Governor Sergey Aksyonov said gas stations would serve only government agencies needed for the region's “functioning and security.” Aksyonov said four people were killed and 28 were injured in the overnight attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strike a “just response” and said Kyiv also hit an oil logistics facility in Russia's Krasnodar region and other military sites.
