Crane truck badly damages Tendean pedestrian bridge, slows Blok M traffic
The driver said he was focused on a map en route to Kejaksaan Agung; no one was hurt, but the bridge remains unusable.
A crane-carrying truck got stuck on a pedestrian bridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, early Tuesday, causing heavy damage to the structure. Traffic toward Blok M moved slowly, while the Pancoran direction remained relatively smooth. Jakarta BPBD said the driver was suspected of being distracted by a cellphone while passing through and failed to account for the height of the load against the bridge. At the scene, the driver, Andre, 28, said he was concentrating on a map because it was his first time taking that route on a trip from Summarecon Bogor to Kejaksaan Agung. He also pointed to the lack of a height barrier before the incident point. No deaths or injuries were reported, but the bridge stairs separated from the main span and one support appeared lifted after the impact.
