Coritiba defender hurt after tunnel fall during disallowed goal celebration

What's new: Jacy Maranhão injured his ankle at Couto Pereira, and the 41st-minute header was later ruled out by VAR.

Coritiba defender Jacy Maranhão injured his ankle after tumbling into a tunnel while celebrating what he thought was a goal in a 2-1 Brazilian Série A win over Chapecoense. Maranhão, 29, headed in during the 41st minute and ran toward home fans at Couto Pereira, jumping over advertising boards before dropping into a passage leading to the away dressing room. He climbed out and continued briefly, but Coritiba later substituted him shortly after halftime. VAR then erased the goal. Maranhão said he twisted his foot but was otherwise fine. The celebration was meant to mark his imminent fatherhood, with the ball tucked under his shirt.
