Consumer confidence index falls to 116.8 as optimism eases

Household income used for debt payments rose to 10.5 percent, while savings edged down to 16.8 percent.

Bank Indonesia recorded the Consumer Confidence Index in July 2026 at 116.8, down from 117.8 in June, though it remained in optimistic territory because it stayed above 100. The decline came as two key components weakened: the Current Economic Conditions Index fell to 107.9 from 109.2, and the Consumer Expectations Index slipped to 125.7 from 126.4. Households also viewed current income, job availability and durable goods purchases less favorably. BI said the average share of income for consumption was relatively stable at 72.7 percent, but the ratio of installment payments to income rose to 10.5 percent from 10.0 percent. The share of income saved was 16.8 percent, slightly below 17.0 percent in the previous month.
