CNA led Singapore online news use at 47% and trust at 78%
What’s new: Mothership ranked second in weekly online reach at 45%, while overall trust in news in Singapore held at 46%, above the 37% global average.
CNA was Singapore’s most-used online news source and most-trusted news brand in the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2026. The report put CNA’s weekly online reach at 47% and its brand trust score at 78%, up four points from 2025. Mothership ranked second for online reach at 45%, ahead of The Straits Times at 44%. In trust, The Straits Times was second at 77%, followed by Mediacorp’s Channel 5 at 76%, Channel 8 at 73% and its news radio stations at 71%. The study said online and social platforms remain the main ways Singaporeans get news, while TV and print have declined. It surveyed 2,041 respondents in Singapore and found 17% pay for news, while 26% sometimes or often avoid it.
