Ceferin warns Infantino could face March challenge after FIFA revolt

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said FIFA President Gianni Infantino could face a challenger in March's election after backlash over a shelved plan to sell a stake in FIFA competitions to private investors. Ceferin, speaking on the Rest is Politics podcast, ruled out running himself but said Infantino's support had eroded across the football community. The abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal would have put 21% of the commercial and ticketing rights for FIFA tournaments into private hands. UEFA led opposition to the plan, and BBC Sport reported some football associations had withdrawn support for Infantino. Ceferin also said the proposal was worse than the failed European Super League because, in his view, it would have sold off the sport itself.
