Carragher apologizes after Aston Villa threatens legal action
What's new: Villa had accused the former Liverpool defender of "unacceptable insults" over remarks about Unai Emery and Manchester United.
Jamie Carragher apologized to Aston Villa, its owners and supporters after the club threatened legal action over comments he made about manager Unai Emery and Manchester United. Carragher wrote on social media that his language had been "clumsy and wrong" and said the remarks were meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Villa's statement, signed by chairman Nassef Sawiris, said the club would pursue legal action over what it called unacceptable insults. The dispute followed Carragher's appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, where he said Emery would likely want the chance to manage a "giant" club again and told Villa fans to "shut the" expletive "up."
