Canva cuts or reshapes 1,271 jobs in 22% workforce overhaul
Why it matters: The restructuring folds product teams together, shifts more staff to Sydney and follows slower growth and lower 2026 revenue forecasts.
Canva is cutting jobs and reshaping roles across 22% of its workforce, affecting 1,271 employees as the Australian design software company moves to simplify its business after growth slowed. CEO and co-founder Melanie Perkins told staff the changes will include layoffs, role changes and relocations to more centralized hubs. Canva will merge its product, growth and platform teams into one product organization, with Sydney becoming the main base for more product staff. Most hybrid employees will also be expected to work in the office two to three days a week from January. The overhaul comes after Canva trimmed its 2026 revenue growth forecast in August from 30% to 20% and reduced its internal valuation to A$43.9 billion.
