Buffett redirects $6 billion gift, drops Gates Foundation

What's new: Buffett said all his remaining Berkshire Hathaway shares will go to four family foundations by Dec. 31, 2034.

Warren Buffett left the Gates Foundation out of his annual charitable giving and redirected about $6 billion in Berkshire Hathaway stock to four family-linked foundations, after recent disclosures about Bill Gates' past contacts with Jeffrey Epstein. Buffett said the donation includes 12 million Class B shares, with 9 million going to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation and 1 million each to the Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation. The Berkshire chairman, 95, also set a new deadline for the rest of his fortune, saying his remaining shares will be donated to those four foundations by Dec. 31, 2034. The Gates Foundation said it remained financially strong and backed by Bill Gates' $200 billion commitment through 2045.
