Broadcom pursues over $60 billion in new AI chip debt deal

What's new: The financing could swell to as much as $100 billion, with Blackstone and Apollo in talks to take part.

Broadcom is seeking more than $60 billion in debt for a new AI chip financing deal tied to Anthropic and other companies, according to a Bloomberg report cited by Reuters. The package could include about $30 billion in junior debt, while Broadcom would guarantee part of a senior secured tranche of roughly $60 billion to $70 billion. That would put the total raise at up to $100 billion. Blackstone and Apollo Global Management are in discussions to participate. The effort follows a June partnership among Broadcom, Apollo and Blackstone to fund a $35 billion expansion of Anthropic's computing capacity using Broadcom custom chips and networking gear.
