Britain urges 3-day stockpile, eyes 1,000-day war readiness
The “Be Ready” campaign urges households to keep water, shelf-stable food, cash and other essentials on hand.
The British government launched its “Be Ready” campaign and asked households to prepare emergency supplies to get through three days in the event of a national emergency. The move came as Defense Minister Wes Streeting said Britain should be ready to fight and win in a little more than 1,000 days, assuming hostile actors could be prepared to attack by 2030. In an article in The Telegraph and in an interview with BBC, Streeting cited growing threats including enemy states, cyberattacks, organized crime and climate change that could disrupt critical infrastructure. Government guidance advises people to stock bottled water, nonperishable food, cash and other essentials. London said the initiative is intended to strengthen national resilience, not in response to any specific intelligence warning.
