BRIN says Astra Agro conservation aids biodiversity goals

2025 monitoring covered 1,579 flora species and 755 fauna species, while rehabilitation reached 193.09 hectares with 49,390 trees planted.

BRIN assessed that PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk's conservation program supports the achievement of national biodiversity targets after reviewing the company's operating areas in Central Kalimantan on June 4-5, 2026. The assessment was part of a study on private-sector contributions to Target 15 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and National Target 18 in the Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2025-2045. According to BRIN, the initiatives reviewed included protection of high conservation value areas, biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem rehabilitation. Throughout 2025, Astra Agro recorded monitoring of 1,579 flora species and 755 fauna species, and rehabilitated 193.09 hectares of land through the planting of 49,390 trees.
