BRI keeps MSME lending steady after BI-Rate rises 25 bps to 5.5%

The rupiah strengthened to Rp18.058 per dollar and the IHSG jumped 7.57% after the benchmark rate increase.

BRI said its intermediation function remains on track and that lending, especially to the MSME segment, will be maintained after Bank Indonesia raised the BI-Rate by 25 basis points to 5.50 percent. The state-owned lender said it will continue monitoring market conditions and interest rates while maintaining capital, liquidity, and liability structure. BI raised the benchmark rate to strengthen rupiah stabilization and contain inflation amid global financial market volatility. BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the rupiah has moved weaker than expected, driven by global turmoil, strong domestic demand for foreign exchange, and foreign portfolio outflows. After the decision, the rupiah closed 130 points stronger at Rp18.058 per dollar AS, while the IHSG rose 404.51 points to 5.746,65.
