Brazil presses US and Argentina over Flavio Bolsonaro's flight
What's new: Flavio Bolsonaro used an Italian passport to fly via Argentina and Ecuador to Florida after Brazil canceled his passports.
Brazil ramped up pressure on the United States and Argentina on Oct. 30 over the escape of Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro, who fled to Florida after Brazilian authorities canceled his passports during a money-laundering investigation. Bolsonaro left two days after losing the Oct. 25 presidential election to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Argentine migration records show he crossed into Argentina by land at Puerto Iguazu on Oct. 27 and boarded a private jet about 40 minutes later. A flight document seen by AFP showed he used an Italian passport. Argentina's foreign minister denied Brazil had sought an explanation, even as a Brazilian diplomatic source said Argentina's representative had been summoned. US lawmakers also sought an accounting of any State Department role.
