Brazil police move to seize Flavio Bolsonaro passports after Lula loss

What's new: The senator said he was barred from leaving Brazil after visiting his imprisoned father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro said federal police ordered him to surrender his passports and barred him from leaving the country after he visited his imprisoned father, former President Jair Bolsonaro. In a social media video posted Monday, Flavio Bolsonaro said he would comply and denied any plan to flee after losing Sunday’s runoff election to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. He said, without offering evidence, that the order stemmed from a ruling by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Flavio Bolsonaro also linked the move to remarks by his brother Eduardo Bolsonaro, who said on a podcast last week that he should leave Brazil if he lost to Lula. The Supreme Court and federal police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
