Brazil justice bars Bolsonaro visits for 30 days during house arrest
What's new: The ruling also blocks political visits and election-related messages through Brazil's October vote.
Brazil Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes barred former President Jair Bolsonaro from receiving visitors for 30 days while he serves house arrest, allowing only medical care and meetings with lawyers. Moraes ruled after Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, the former president's son, posted a letter from his father on social media urging support for the senator's presidential bid in the October elections. The justice said the post broke the terms of Bolsonaro's humanitarian house arrest, which already prohibit him from using social media or phones directly or through others. Moraes had earlier blocked Flavio Bolsonaro from visiting his father for 90 days and now extended limits on any visits or remarks with a political or electoral purpose until the election ends.
