BPS targets full participation of health businesses in 2026 census

The Health Ministry has submitted data on 89,511 health businesses, from hospitals to pharmacies, to form the initial census base.

Badan Pusat Statistik and the Kementerian Kesehatan are urging all businesses in the health sector to take part in the 2026 Economic Census, with a target that every business unit be recorded. In a socialization event in Jakarta on Thursday, June 11, 2026, BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stressed that a census differs from a survey because it captures complete data, not samples. BPS is also updating KBLI 2025 so new activities in the health sector, including digital services, drug distribution, and medical devices, can be included. The Kementerian Kesehatan has already submitted initial data on 89,511 health businesses to BPS. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said about 3,200 hospitals, 10,000 puskesmas, 15,000 clinics, 10,000 private doctors, 12,000 pharmacies, and about 6,000 health laboratories are expected to participate. The census results will be used to strengthen the preparation of the Health Satellite Account.
