BPS includes digital businesses in Economic Census 2026

Badan Pusat Statistik has included digital economic actors in the scope of the 2026 Economic Census, an expansion it said is new compared with the census a decade ago. BPS Inspector General Dadang Hardiawan said the census will also cover agriculture businesses and will map the structure and characteristics of Indonesia's economy down to the regional level. Field data collection is scheduled for June 15 to Aug. 31, 2026. In Sulawesi Tengah, BPS will deploy 3,210 enumerators to count about 1.5 million businesses. In Jawa Barat, the target is at least 5.54 million businesses and about 17.7 million families, with 40,573 enumerators. BPS Deputy Chairman Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi said enumerators need to go door to door because many businesses, including digital ones, operate without signs.
