BPJS: JKN patients must still be treated if rooms are full

BPJS Kesehatan said participants in Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional with active coverage remain entitled to inpatient care based on medical need, even if the room matching their entitlement is full. The explanation came after a JKN participant who had posted on Threads about waiting eight hours for a ward room was reported to have died. BPJS Kesehatan public relations head Rizzky Anugerah said partner hospitals must provide care that is easy, fast, equal, and non-discriminatory. Under Permenkes Nomor 28 Tahun 2014, if a room matching the patient's entitlement is unavailable, the hospital may place the patient in a room one class higher for no more than three days without extra charge. If all inpatient rooms are full, the hospital may refer the patient to another equivalent facility. BPJS also directed participants to use the Bed Availability Information feature in the Mobile JKN app.
