Border Patrol detained the father of a U.S. sailor serving aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln after a vehicle stop in Key West, Florida, according to the Department of Homeland Security and the sailor's Facebook post. Luis Manuel Aviles Roa, a Nicaraguan national, will remain in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody while removal proceedings move forward, DHS said. His son, Joshua Aviles, wrote that he has been deployed for more than nine months in the Middle East and learned his father had been taken into custody even though the family was waiting on a green card application.
