Roadside bomb injures 6 Thailand police in Yala, 2 critical

The attack hit a patrol escorting teachers in Than To District, and gunmen also fired on the unit from roadside brush.

Six members of the Thailand Border Patrol Police were injured, two of them critically, after a roadside bomb exploded in Than To District, Yala Province, on Friday morning. Police said the improvised explosive device was detonated as a unit from Company 442 passed by on a routine patrol and teacher escort mission. After the blast, attackers opened fire from brush along the road. All of the victims were first taken to Than To Hospital, while the two seriously wounded were evacuated by helicopter to Yala Hospital for intensive care. Authorities sealed off the scene, deployed bomb disposal and forensic teams, and launched a search for the suspects. No one has claimed responsibility, and the motive remains under investigation.
