Bogor flag rebuke goes viral, district chief denies coercion

New: the district chief said the man who shouted was not a local employee, and the apology video was made in a Satpol PP room without her office knowing.

A video of a rebuke against a barber who had not yet put up the red-and-white flag in Rancabungur, Bogor Regency, went viral on social media. Rancabungur district chief Dita Aprillia said the incident took place on Aug. 7, 2026, when district staff were handing out flags and urging residents to display them during the independence month. According to Dita, the supply of flags for that area had already run out, so the barber was only given an appeal. She also denied that the man who shouted in the video was a district employee, saying he was a “media friend” helping in the field. Dita said the barber later came to the district office accompanied by the neighborhood and community heads for clarification, not to be forced into apologizing. She said she did not meet him directly and that the apology video that later circulated was made in a Satpol PP room at Rancabungur district without the district office’s knowledge.
