Boeing drops 9.5% as 737 output slips into 2027, cash goals reset
What's new: Boeing now expects free cash flow of $3 billion in 2027 and $6 billion in 2028, far below Wall Street forecasts.
Boeing shares fell 9.5% Tuesday after CEO Kelly Ortberg pushed the company’s target to build 47 Boeing 737 jets a month into early 2027, delaying a key milestone in its recovery. The setback means Boeing also will miss its goal of delivering 500 aircraft this year. The company projected free cash flow of $3 billion next year and $6 billion in 2028, well below LSEG consensus estimates of $5.6 billion and $9.6 billion. Ortberg said Boeing is increasing production carefully after years of quality problems tied to faster rate hikes. Boeing also posted an adjusted quarterly loss of 34 cents a share, versus market expectations for a 21-cent loss. Revenue at Boeing Commercial Airplanes edged down to $10.7 billion.
