BNI issues US$700 million AT1 to strengthen capital, governance
The funds support BUMN transformation in the Danantara ecosystem and expand the bank's intermediation capacity.
BNI issued a US$700 million Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instrument in the international market as part of efforts to strengthen its capital structure. The state-owned bank also tightened corporate governance, risk management and internal controls to maintain healthy and sustainable business growth. BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the move to reinforce its foundation aligns with the BUMN transformation agenda together with Danantara Indonesia. In addition to adding capital, BNI is continuing its organizational transformation through improved business processes, use of digital technology and better human resources. The steps are aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening competitiveness and expanding access to financial services and support for national development programs.
