BMW electric car hit-and-run case in Kembangan ends in peace
Police mediated between the driver and the victim’s family, and the case was resolved through restorative justice.
The alleged hit-and-run case involving a BMW electric car and an online motorcycle taxi rider in Meruya Selatan, Kembangan, West Jakarta, has ended in a peaceful settlement. The Traffic Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police facilitated mediation between the BMW driver and the victim’s family, represented by the victim’s son, and both sides agreed to resolve the matter amicably. Gakkum Unit head AKP Joko Siswanto said the terms of the agreement were a private matter for the parties, while police only provided the mediation at the office. Police said the restorative justice approach was chosen to meet a sense of fairness. The incident occurred on Monday (22/6) in front of Universitas Mercu Buana. The victim, Sutiyo, suffered abrasions on his hands and feet and was treated at RSUD Kembangan.
